Electronic Rock

A-ya-ya-ya-Yai!!!

Where do we start?

Don't you hate when people downplay their best effort just in case it's not good enough? Everyone's doing it now, it's so annoying. Unfortunately we are about to do it, so start hating

Here it goes... Nothing's ever good enough when it comes to reviewing a new Love X Stereo song or album. Each one grossly surpasses the last sonically, creatively and conceptually, as has been the case for the 9+ years spanning their illustrious independent music career, which began with the release of the critically acclaimed 4 track album "Buzzin" back in 2011 when they were a trio. To be honest it gets frustrating sometimes - writing then rewriting, then starting from scratch and repeating time and time again to no avail. To cut a long story short, this is just another sorry attempt at writing a fitting review for what can only be described as a "life changing" album, one you'll hold very close to your heart next to God and PPE; in fact don't waste your time reading it, just skip over to the play button at the end and hit it really hard so your music player knows something huge is about to happen

Wait, that seemed like a terrible way to start. Let's start over again. See? It's happening already. Okay this one's the one. Here it goes. Eer em...

This is one of those albums that are so exciting to listen to that nothing written could ever do justice describing how amazing it is; in fact, too much hype may even make it seem like just another mainstream album with a really big PR budget, expensive soundfonts and highly targeted groove templates and arrangements designed to generate maximum streaming revenue on Spotify, and a lot of Shazam hits.

If you are not sober right now and you are reading this you are making a big mistake. This will make you feel so good that you’ll never want to stop drinking, smoking or doing whatever you do to take the edge off in these unprecedented times. But why is it so good, you may ask? After all, every album must be good in some way or the other or else the artist or band that created it wouldn’t have released it, right? That’s where you are wrong, and probably where you have been getting it wrong; maybe that’s why your music collection sucks so bad – yes, we said it. It sucks!

An album is a collection of songs put together to form a body of work that means something. The songs would either have been created together or put together with the purpose of fulfilling a theme or concept, tell a story, evoke a vibe, stimulate an emotional response, or for whatever reason its creator(s) decided at the start of the project or somewhere along the way. The extent to which an album meets the specification of any of the above criteria is what makes an album good, hence, an album can be good without even being heard – wouldn't you agree?

Xennials” are the generation that were born at the end of the analog era and the beginning of the digital era. With that definition in mind it’s easy to figure out that Love X Stereo’s new album “Xennials” has been a long time in the making since it is the epiphany of the band’s sound – a skillful intoxicating blend of ‘90s sounds and electronic sounds of the ‘00s. The album was a good album even before it was made, maybe that’s why it is so good. With 7 tracks, each one better than the last, it will have you dancing around in space on an imaginary timeline of music somewhere between the 90’s and the 00’s. With a futuristic ambience and a heavenly feel, it's a masterfully-crafted record that will send your music collection’s self-esteem and yours too through the roof. It’s big, it’s sophisticated, groovy, purposeful, introspective, and it will make you feel like a virgin again. Okay wait, we just threw that last part in there for effects – you’ll never feel like a virgin again, you’re too old 🤣 😊, but don’t worry you’ve totally still got it (thumbs up!, wink, wink, wink).

Now, locate that play button that was mentioned earlier below and hit it harder than Snoop Dogg's 81st blunt of the day (yep, Snoop claims he smokes 81 blunts a day - he will never die).

Let's do it

Featured on South Korean duo, Love X Stereo’s highly acclaimed “37B” album, “Turn It Up” is a soft, tender, feel-good record with a commanding bass line that’ll make you feel like you are a maestro, and you are about to do what you do and make it look really easy. The vocal performance is like a gentle breeze on a warm summer day, and more arousing than body heat on a cosy winter evening with someone special. The lyrics evoke sensual, intimate feelings; as if themed around a passionate late night encounter between two lovers.  “Turn it up, turn it up, turn it up; the volume of the night”.

What a rush!

Featured on Seoul electronic rock duo, Love X Stereo’s “37C” album, “Free Fall” is a liberating, blissfully satisfying, slow burning heartbreak song packed with exciting sounds and synths that will be sure to take the pain of breaking up away quicker than you can say “well f* you too”. Be careful not to listen to this if you are in an unstable or even remotely complicated relationship, it’s too tempting - the track feels so good you may be tempted to make it real, and leave.

10 South Korean songs that’ll destroy your music collection’s self-esteem without even trying

The latest instalment in the critically acclaimed album series, “37” by Love X Stereo, “37C” is one of those albums that will make you retire from your music discovery efforts for a while, and just sprawl and bask in the peace of knowing that it’ll be a very long time before any electronic rock release will come even close to it sonically, lyrically, conceptually, production-wise or in any other way. If you are not familiar with the unstoppable South Korean force that is Love X Stereo then this album will overload your speakers and send your music player into a state of pandemonium that will render all its algorithms useless. It blazes a trail of its own even in the band’s already impressive and exceptionally unique repertoire. The minute you hit the play button it’s like you are sucked into your own ear drums and listening to the world from inside your head – it’s hard to explain, but the only way you’ll be able to find comfort after listening to this album, apart from listening to it again over and over is to somehow find a way to turn back the hands of time and get sucked back into your mum’s uterus for another nine months in the womb that never let you down even once.

For a good cause, and bad girls

As featured on South Korean electronic rock sensation, Love X Stereo’s latest album, the latest in their “37 Series”, titled “37C”, “Call My Name” is a song that was created in aid of Anti-Prostitution Week which takes place every September in South Korea to raise awareness about prostitution and help eradicate it from local communities in the region. All proceeds of the song are donated to a self-help center for youth in Seoul.

Like many LXS records, it’s electrifying with an old school yet ever so futuristic feel and a beat that’ll get you on you feet and then carry you away on a soft cloud till you are partying hard on cloud 9 without a care in the world. It’s one of those records you never want to end once you’ve hit the play button.

Wow-ie!

Exquisite

A sonic blast from the past that will lead you on a path of no return into musical dimensions you never even knew existed.

This is one of those albums that instantaneously raises the bar for any and everything you'd be ready to invest your aural resources in from the moment after you hit the play button. Don't listen to this album if you are one of those people who would rather have nothing than settle for even a little less because you could end up rendering your iPod or whatever music/mp3 player, app or mobile device you use to listen to music or discover music useless for a very long time, unless of course you've already built up a sizable collection of bar-raising stuff that can tide you over till your next big album discovery.

"37X" is so amazing we almost compared it to Michael Jackson's "Thriller", and we weren't even sorry. If, like many of today's die-hard music lovers you are yet to or rarely get the opportunity to listen to a new album more than once and only ever use the rewind or repeat button, then you are in for a monumental treat, you could even say a Christmas miracle. Featuring remixes of some of their new hits from recent albums and a few new songs, "37X" is the latest installment in the "37" series by Seoul, South Korea's top independent electronic rock band, Love X Stereo, who shot to fame back in 2011 with their critically acclaimed album, "Buzzin" and have had electronic rock fans around the world under a spell ever since. Having excelled in flying colors and defied the highest of expectations for several years independently it's hard to believe they are still able to shock fans and leave critics lost for words with every new record, but they do it time and time again, and this 10 track masterpiece is being hailed as the big kahuna of all the big kahuna's they've shocked the world with so far. Right from the very first track, "Turn It Up", to the very last, "Zero One" which was their last single, the album is packed with feel-good vibes so good you'll feel like James Brown, and want nothing more than to kiss yourself for this amazing discovery. Just hang a mistletoe above the mirror so it's not weird.

For when the mood is just right.

This song has all the makings of the soundtrack to the perfect kiss - an angelic feel, exciting vibe that'll give you chills, an electrifying rhythm, a very organic ambiance that you won't believe is electronic, a peaceful, quiet vibe that makes it feel like there's no one else around and no one else  matters, and colorful tones that reek of love. If you're with someone special who you've started to feel really strongly about but have been caught up in a game of double dutch in your mind trying to find out the right time to make your move, if you should or how to go about it, a moment or two of passionate lip smacking is in order fo' sho'. Don't fight it.

So sad

Here's another one from South Korean duo, Love X Stereo's critically acclaimed album, "37B", the newest addition to their repertoire, and by far their highest rated and most successful record to date. "Le Grand Bleu" is one of those somber, deeply moving tracks that is guaranteed to bring you to tears in moments when you are experiencing even the slightest bit of emotional unrest. It has a very slow, dark, melancholic feel with lyrics centered around loneliness and compassion. As usual, it's exquisitely written. It's played ever so gently and performed in a voice so soft you'll drift away into the moonlight with it. It has that uncanny ability to single you out and make you feel like you are the only one in the world and the song is about you.

Free your mind

In 2017 independent Seoul duo, Love X Stereo set out to release 37 tracks spread out evenly over the course of the year. The project ultimately resulted in the release of the critically acclaimed albums, "37A" and "37B", which are not only ranked as their best records to date, even with their highly exceptional track record, but are also ranked as some of the most exciting and innovative independent electronic rock releases this decade. "A Revolution" was track number 12 out of 37 and featured on on "37B". It's adventurous, it's moderately pacey, and evokes a sense of newness and liberation. It's one of those tracks that's so good every time you listen to it you discover a new sound or a new groove you didn't hear previously. It's packed with juicy, mind-boggling synths and effects that'll give your speakers goosebumps and leave them absolutely soaked - yes, it's that good.

If this doesn't get you in the mood for love, nothing else will

Much like the title, this track will have you fall instantly in love with it. Featured on Love X Stereo's 37B album back in the summer of 2018 when the critically acclaimed Seoul, South Korean independent rock sensation delivered on their promise to release 37 singles for a Patreon campaign, it is still one of the most talked about records among many that marked a new high for the now internationally recognised band. It's bright and exciting with a positive vibe all the way through. As is customary, the instrumentation is simple yet ever so intricate, uplifting, and invigorating. The lyrics evoke feelings of love resulting from love at first sight. It's so good it'll be over before you know it, and you'll want more.

"Zero One"
Electronic Rock

Love is dead, it's over, you can't feel anything.

Once those first few words of the track sink in, you'll want nothing more than to shut the whole world out and bask in the essence of this deeply moving song till it has completely healed you and you can love unconditionally again.

Seoul electronic rock music duo, Love X Stereo's first single of 2019 has been just as highly praised as it was highly anticipated. Marking a new high in their career with the release of "37B", their latest album back in the Summer of 2018 while on a mini UK tour, they raised the bar astronomically high for not just electronic music artists and rock acts in their home region but for musical acts far and wide as well, introducing a sound so pure, so unique and so true to the genres it represents that you could almost identify every single element and its respective genre with very little effort. "Zero One" sits right at the top of that astronomically high bar. It is the quintessential Love X Stereo sound cranked up to the highest level of excellence that could possibly be bestowed upon any iconic rock band - angelic vocals that'll send chills up your spine and then blow your socks off, and not necessarily in that order; a solid beat that'll send tremors through your chest cavity; a lasting impression that will have you firmly gripped right from the start and then stick with you for so long you'll hate them for it; an utterly peaceful ambiance so good it's scary; a sense of calm and reassurance deep within; and lyrics that'll take you on a journey of self discovery. The track was created as the soundtrack to the independent film, "Zero One" which was released late last year by Korea born New York film director, Nick Neon.

Global denuclearization solved

This album will end wars

One of those sneaky albums that will lure your troubles to a really peaceful, quiet place and then blow them to smithereens when they least expect it - shhh

When you are looking for something really easy for your ears to digest but packed with enough substance to make your me time just that little more meaningful and worthwhile then look no further than South Korean electronic rock duo, Love X Stereo's latest album, "37B". As the name suggests, or maybe doesn't, it's the sequel to their previous album, "37A", which was released to critically acclaim back in the summer of 2017. Together, the two albums marked an all-time high for the independent band who have received worldwide recognition and been hosted at some of the world's most popular music festivals and live music venues, including the popular US music and arts festival, SXSW where they have become fan favorites and continue to be invited back to every year. "37B", much like its predecessor is a 10 track album that is packed with electronic sounds and colourful tones that resonate really well in any laid-back setting, whether you are having a low-key party or just hanging out in the park on a bright sunny afternoon. It's super chilled with a positive, uplifting vibe all the way through and you'll feel 10 pounds lighter by the time you are done listening to it. It's an unpredictable album that will surprise you with light, bight, easy going sounds every step of the way and then blow you away when you least expect it, you'll never know what's coming next.

Music for a cause.

"Slipping Away" was originally featured on independent South Korean band, Love X Stereo's last album, "37B" which was released late 2017 to critical acclaim both regionally and internationally. If, like many music fans you miss the good old days when music could move you to tears, then this song with make your day and breathe new life into your music playlists.
